There are legal concentration limits for sewer discharge of trace amounts of contamination. This tool helps you comply with these rules. This calculator is intended to help you determine how many liters of water are needed to dispose of a given activity of a given radioisotope via the sanitary sewer system as aqueous radioactive waste. Authorization by the Division of Research Safety is required prior to disposal via the sanitary sewer.
