Regulated medical waste, clinical waste, or biomedical waste refers to waste or reusable material derived from the medical treatment, which includes diagnosis and immunization, or from biomedical research, which includes the production and testing of biological products, of an animal or human.
Regulated medical waste, clinical waste, or biomedical waste containing a Category A infectious substance shall be classed as an infectious substance and assigned to UN2814 or UN2900 as appropriate. Typically, regulated medical waste is classified as category B and is assigned UN3291.
